Privacy policy
Last updated 3 October 2026
Foil keeps your QR cards on your phone. The app has no account, no server and no internet permission, so it cannot send your information anywhere.
What Foil stores
- The cards you create or import (handles, numbers, links, Wi-Fi details, contact details, imported QR text) and your settings, in Foil's private storage on your phone.
- If Android backup is turned on, Android may include this data in your device backup to your Google account. That backup is run and encrypted by Android, not by Foil.
What Foil does not do
- No accounts, sign-in, analytics, advertising, tracking or crash reporting.
- No sharing or selling of data. Foil has nothing to share: it cannot reach the internet.
Features that use other parts of your phone
- Import from a screenshot or photo: you choose an image with Android's photo picker. Foil reads it on the phone to find the QR code and does not keep the image.
- Photo cards: you choose a picture with Android's photo picker. Foil keeps a resized copy inside the app, on your phone only, and removes it once no card uses it.
- Purchases: Foil Pro is sold through Google Play. Foil only learns whether you own it. Google's privacy policy covers the payment.
- Share, lock screen, widget: these happen on your phone when you ask for them. Anything you share goes to the app you pick.
